A cold Day at Yankee Falls
Brrr! it was only -24 as a high today but the skies were so blue and the air so crisp....just had to venture out for a shoot....Had to convert this shot to B&W with such strong sunlight the tonal values were really blown out...and the monochrome tuned everything down...I love this little set of Falls, these are the upper rapids just above the actual falls....With the snow so deep, venturing below the first set of falls would be a deadly undertaking....some very big boulders to maneuver, nasty ankle twisters for sure! So this was my only safest approach.

Really Beautiful. It's just how to keep the fingers warm. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River.
Kaunis kuva 'Purosta-pakkasessa'.
B-W sopii talven kuviin koska värit ovat melkein eri-sinisiä.
Tuo pakkanen on meidän lukemissa - tänään yli -25Cº....!
Kova talvi - monta kuukautta pakkasia.
Pari-kolme lauhaa päivää...
Terveisin..
I always like the way water cuts through snow.
Super pleasant image -- looks cold, though...
A stunning shot ! I love the composition and the light. B&w worked very well !
Gorgeous! But where is Yankee Falls?
Thanks Everyone for your kind comments....always such a boost when it comes from your peers!!!!!
Yes it was very cold, the camera was hard to hold...and I hate gloves....
Cathy, this little set of falls is on the Tim & Magnetewan Lake access road, going to Algonquin Park, out of Kearney...the Road is also called Tower Road....if you stop at the Ranger's office in Kearney, they will steer you straight. Amazing spot in the Fall!
A most lovely image! So very scenic and serene. Beautiful work!
